the world is smaller than you know
even at the apex of vastness
we’re critters
swathing and baking
in the croissant hued light
of the subterranean passages

mirage a trois play out
on the silken hulks
erosion gives
brushwork to the pillars
and traditional influence
to the rows of clay walls
encrypted with ridgings
and thin lime pilaster
from Mephistopheles rib cage

while the latter is unquestionably colorful
the hidden depths of Monte Wagner
gave way for the abrupt invention of pyroglyphics -
